Mr. Freeman has compiled an excellent coffee table book covering the Allied strategic bombing campaign and its role in the final defeat of Germany in 1945. This book is rich with both archival photos - black and white as well as color - and a considerable amount of narrative that makes it one of those coffee table books that won't simply sit there gathering dust. Rather, I've found it is one I enjoy revisiting time and time again. I was happy to see it did not simply reprint the photos of the 8th AF and other units that we've all seen a million times. The author did a great job locating many photos I'd never seen, and, having literally learned to read as a child on books about WW2, I always think I've seen them all. But, this book proved a pleasant surprise.
