Rodney and the Breaking of the Line
George Brydges Rodney (1718-1792), later Admiral Lord Rodney, had anything but a conventional career. His promising early career, which left him marked for advancement, had run into the sand during the long years of peace after the Seven Years War (1756-1763). Indeed when Britain and France found themselves at war again in 1778 as a result of the latter’s support for the American colonists, Rodney had exiled himself in France to escape his creditors.

Human Factors for Naval Marine Vehicle Design and Operation
There is a driving need for naval professionals to focus on human factors issues. The number of maritime accidents is increasing and the chief cause is human error, both by the designer and the operator. Decreasing crew size, lack of experienced operators, operations in higher sea states and fatigue worsen the situation.

Who Killed the Red Baron: The Final Answer
THREE planes roared away from a dogfight, headed west along the Somme River. In the lead was a Sopwith Camel flown by a green pilot named Wilfred May. He was maneuvering wildly to evade the twin streams of death from the Spandau machine guns of the red triplane on his tail. The German so intent on destroying the young Canadian was the apparently invincible Richthofen, the Red Baron. Pursuing Richthofen was Captain Roy Brown, May's superior, desperately trying to save his fledgling. Brown got the triplane in his sights, got in a sustained burst of fire before overtaking his target and losing sight of it behind some trees. He was sure he had scored. But Richthofen continued his chase through a hail of ground fire after Brown was gone. Then suddenly his guns were silenced and he banked hard to the east, banked sharply again, sideslipped, then glided to earth. He had been killed by a single bullet through heart and lungs. |

Those Wonderful Women in Their Flying Machines: The Unknown Heroines of World War II
From 1942 to 1944, almost two thousand women pilots left their civilian lives as students, movie stuntwomen, secretaries, blackjack dealers, and wives with husbands overseas to converge on Avenger Field, Sweetwater, Texas. There, the only all-female cadet air base in history, they slipped into ill-fitting men's GI flying suits and marched into the "Army Way" of life. Six months later, the Women's Airforce Service Pilots (WASPS) were ready to fly every airplane in America's air arsenal, from the colossal B-29 Superfortress to the lightning-fast P-51 Mustang fighter.

Heroes or Traitors - The German Replacement Army, the July Plot, and Adolf Hitler
A riveting account of the conspirators who plotted to kill Hitler in July 1944, and the methods they used to keep a half million men from the battlefields of France and Russia. Without the efforts of these high-ranking German officers, the war against Hitler might have had a completely different outcome. It is a highly detailed account, but also a very readable book.
