Формат: ePUB
Страниц: 336

Social media sites are constantly evolving with huge amounts of scattered data or big data, which makes it difficult for researchers to trace the information flow. It is a daunting task to extract a useful piece of information from the vast unstructured big data; the disorganized structure of social media contains data in various forms such as text and videos as well as huge real-time data on which traditional analytical methods like statistical approaches fail miserably. Due to this, there is a need for efficient data mining techniques that can overcome the shortcomings of the traditional approaches. Data Mining Approaches for Big Data and Sentiment Analysis in Social Media encourages researchers to explore the key concepts of data mining, such as how they can be utilized on online social media platforms, and provides advances on data mining for big data and sentiment analysis in online social media, as well as future research directions. Covering a range of concepts from machine learning methods to data mining for big data analytics, this book is ideal for graduate students, academicians, faculty members, scientists, researchers, data analysts, social media analysts, managers, and software developers who are seeking to learn and carry out research in the area of data mining for big data and sentiment.

Agent-Based Modelling and Geographical Information Systems: A Practical PrimerНазвание: Agent-Based Modelling and Geographical Information Systems: A Practical Primer

his is the era of Big Data and computational social science. It is an era that requires tools which can do more than visualise data but also model the complex relation between data and human action, and interaction. Agent-Based Models (ABM) - computational models which simulate human action and interaction – do just that. This textbook explains how to design and build ABM and how to link the models to Geographical Information Systems. It guides you from the basics through to constructing more complex models which work with data and human behaviour in a spatial context. All of the fundamental concepts are explained and related to practical examples to facilitate learning (with models developed in NetLogo with all code examples available on the accompanying website). There are several open source GIS packages now available, the most popular being Quantum GIS (QGIS). QGIS offers much of the same basic functionality as ArcGIS - the ability to create, edit, analyse and visualise geographical information (via its plugins) - but without the cost or restriction to a specific operating system. Another open source product is GRASS. There is also a growing body of tools and packages in R and Python (e.g. PySAL (Python Spatial Analysis Library)) which allow for spatial data handling, analysis and the visualisation of geographical information.

There's more to Linux than simply being a free to use operating system. Its unique configuration allows the user to customise and personalise the OS into any form they wish. A Linux user can change their OS look and feel from one day to the next, install thousands of freely available apps and programs and take back control of their computer. Python is a fantastic programming language, combining ease of use with a generous helping of power to allow the user to create both minor utilities or performance-heavy computational tasks. However, there's more to Python than simply being another programming language. It has a vibrant and lively community behind it that shares knowledge, code and project ideas, as well as bug fixes for future releases. We've used a Raspberry Pi for this section of the book, as it's Linux based and one of the best coding platforms available. The Pi's features and functions make it the perfect Python programming partner, so let's get started.
