Название: Winning the Mental Game on Wall Street: The Psychology and Philosophy of Successful Investing Автор: John Magee Издательство: CRC Press Год: 2000 Формат: pdf Страниц: 459 Размер: 3 MB Язык: English This book is the new edition of John Magee's classic General Semantics of Wall Street. An indispensable companion to John Magee's and Robert Edward's classic, Technical Analysis of Stock Trends, Winning the Mental Game on Wall Street covers the mind set, the preconceptions, the false and misleading habits that hinder peak performance. It exhaustively deconstructs the movement of the stock market, shows you how to decipher its behavior, and teaches you its symbolic language or general semantics. Written by John Magee and edited by W.H. Charles Bassetti, this book prepares you for the mental game on Wall Street. The book re-trains your mind to handle the market skillfully. Magee, arguably the wisest investment advisor in history, leads you toward a common sense mentality and method that virtually assures success in the long run. The secret? Right mind, right habits, right techniques. Through careful study and application of the concepts suggested by Magee, an average investor becomes a highly effective trader. Winning the Mental Game on Wall Street prepares your mind to operate effectively in the financial markets.

Название: Psychology of Denial (Psychology of Emotions, Motivations and Actions Series) Автор: Sofia K. Ogden, Ashley D. Biebers Издательство: Nova Science Publishers Год: 2010 Формат: pdf Страниц: 204 Размер: 2 MB Язык: English In psychology, denial is a concept originating with the psychodynamic theories of Sigmund Freud. According to Freud, three mental dynamics, or motivating forces, influence human behaviour: the id, ego, and superego. These three forces all have different goals (id, pleasure; ego, reality; superego, morality) and continually strive for dominance, resulting in internal conflict. This conflict produces anxiety. The ego, which functions as a mediator between the two extremes of the id and the superego, attempts to reduce this anxiety by using defence mechanisms. Defence mechanisms are indirect ways of dealing or coping with anxiety, such as explaining problems away or blaming others for problems. Denial is one of many defence mechanisms. It entails ignoring or refusing to believe an unpleasant reality. Defense mechanisms protect one's psychological well-being in traumatic situations, or in any situation that produces anxiety or conflict. This book presents original research in this exciting and thought-provoking field.

Название: The Social Psychology of Good and Evil Автор: Arthur G. Miller Издательство: The Guilford Press Год: 2004 Формат: pdf Страниц: 513 Размер: 2 MB Язык: English This compelling work brings together an array of distinguished scholars to explore key concepts, theories, and findings pertaining to some of the most fundamental issues in social life: the conditions under which people are kind and helpful to others or, conversely, under which they commit harmful, even murderous acts. Covered are such topics as the complex interaction of individual, societal, and situational factors underpinning good or evil behavior; the role of guilt and the self-concept; and issues of responsibility and motivation, including why good people do bad things. The volume also examines whether aggression and violence are inescapable aspects of human nature, and how cooperative interaction can break down stereotyping and discrimination.

Название: Epistemology and the Psychology of Human Judgment Автор: Michael A Bishop, J. D. Trout Издательство: Oxford University Press Год: 2005 Формат: pdf Страниц: 218 Размер: 1 MB Язык: English This effort is a good offering for naturalistic epistemology as it wishes for the impossible (reasonable and practical modern epistemic outlook). Bishop & Trout begs the moral question as they assert that improper reasoning leads to bad results forasmuch as "bad" presupposes a standard that the authors, as naturalists, cannot provide. Epistemic tests to determine good or bad presuppose a fixed moral ground. They offer fine critical judgments on a variety of epistemic approaches and if one doesn't guard one's pre-commitments too closely, one will be converted to their view. This is an enjoyable read, even for non-philosophers, and it will expand anyone's epistemic horizons even if one disagrees with their rational (empirical) approach.
