Azure Firewalls provide both packet filtering and stateful packet inspection. That means that you can filter at the layer 3 level based on source or destination IP address, port, and protocol. You can also protect resources at the layer 7 level by having the firewall inspect the headers for the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or the Azure service tag that the packet might be trying to communicate with. In this skill section, we discuss where an Azure Firewall is included in a design and how to deploy and configure the firewall.
