The first book to cover fuzzy logic in planning and operation of smart grids.
Fuzzy logic has vast applications in power and electrical engineering. This collection is the first book to cover research advancements in the application of fuzzy logic in the planning and operation of smart grids. A global group of researchers and scholars present innovative approaches to fuzzy-based smart grid planning and operation, cover theoretical concepts and experimental results of the application of fuzzy-based techniques, and define and apply these techniques to deal with smart grid issues. Applications of Fuzzy Logic in Planning and Operation of Smart Grids is an ideal resource for researchers on the theory and application of fuzzy logic, practicing engineers working in electrical power engineering and power system planning, and post-graduates and students in advanced graduate-level courses.
The first chapter deals with a fuzzy-based multi-objective optimization for the efficient integration of distributed generations into the distribution system. The goal of this study is to minimize the power losses, improve the voltage profile, and optimize the voltage stability index.
In the second chapter, a fuzzy-based resilience assessment for the planning and operation of a microgrid has been presented. In this chapter, the resilience level of the electrical distribution feeders is evaluated during each phase of the windstorm. Herein, the fuzzy-based reliability indices are also investigated.
The third chapter applies a fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making to evaluate the reliability level of a smart grid. In this study, a framework is developed to identify the most effective criteria that can improve the smart grid reliability from the end users’ point of view.
The fourth chapter is related to the fuzzy realization of adaptive autonomy concept in a smart grid. Herein, two adaptive autonomy expert systems are developed to improve the performance of the distribution automation and the cybersecurity of the smart grid.
In the fifth chapter, the application of fuzzy logic in the operation of a vehicle-to-grid system has been studied considering the smart grid infrastructure.
The sixth chapter is concerned with the fuzzy operation of an uncertain power market. Herein, a fuzzy linear programming is applied to solve the energy management problem of a parking lot participating in the energy market.
