Спортивно-пилотажный самолет Яковлев Як-50. Як-50 впервые принял участие в международных соревнованиях в 1976 году. Тогда на товарищеских соревнованиях по высшему пилотажу команд социалистических стран в Чехословакии сборная СССР на Як-50 одержала командную победу по всем трём упражнениям. Из 30 призовых мест советские спортсмены завоевали 23, в том числе 8 первых. Высокие лётные качества
наиболее полно проявились во время 8-го чемпионата мира по высшему пилотажу в августе 1976 года в Киеве на аэродроме "Чайка". На этих соревнованиях советские спортсмены завоевали 9 золотых, 8 серебряных и 6 бронзовых медалей. В. Лецко и Л. Леонова стали абсолютными чемпионами мира. В 1977 году на Як-50 была одержана победа на соревнованиях социалистических стран в Киеве и первом чемпионате Европы во Франции. Лётчиками О. Булыгиным и С.Е. Савицкой на Як-50 установлен ряд мировых рекордов скорости и скороподъёмности. Поставлялся на экспорт в Австралию, Великобританию, ГДР, Данию, Чехословакию, Польшу. На базе спортивного Як-50 разработан двухместный учебно-тренировочный самолёт Як-52.
